Job Title: Senior Kafka Administrator

Job Summary:
Seeking a Senior Kafka/Confluent Administrator to manage and evolve on-prem Kafka/Confluent platforms, including hardware refresh, cluster upgrades, performance tuning, automation, monitoring, and disaster recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage highly available Kafka/Confluent clusters, topics, partitions, retention, and consumer groups.
• Administer Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, MirrorMaker/Replicator, and REST Proxy.
• Perform upgrades, migrations, capacity planning, performance tuning, and hardware refreshes.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, backup/restore, and DR solutions.
• Develop automation using scripting/DevOps tools.
• Create comprehensive runbooks, documentation, architecture diagrams, and migration plans.
• Support AWS MSK and cross-environment Kafka operations.

Required Skills:

• 4+ years production Kafka and 5+ years in SRE/DevOps/platform engineering.
• Strong Kafka internals, Linux, networking, and performance analysis.
• Hands-on Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, MirrorMaker/Replicator.
• Experience with Grafana, Datadog, JMX exporters, and log aggregation.
• Strong automation/scripting and documentation skills.
• Experience with DR, multi-region architecture, and cluster migrations.
