Location: St. Louis, MO / Burlington, MA (Hybrid)

Duration: 12+ Months

 

Must Have:

• Lead technical strategy for AI/LLM systems across multiple products

• Proven expertise in Python and ML frameworks (MLFlow, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit

• Strong background in statistical analysis, data exploration, and working with large-scale datasets.

 

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Staff Applied AI Engineer to build scalable, production-ready AI and backend systems. The ideal candidate will have strong Python, machine learning, data engineering, and backend development experience, with hands-on experience building AI/LLM solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of production AI/LLM solutions.

• Design RAG, retrieval, agentic, orchestration, and evaluation systems.

• Build scalable Python backend applications and APIs.

• Develop data pipelines to ingest, validate, transform, and process structured and unstructured data.

• Design scalable data models, storage solutions, and distributed systems.

• Build reliable AI systems with strong observability, security, and performance.

• Evaluate new AI models, tools, and technologies.

• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams.

• Mentor engineers and promote AI/software engineering best practices.

 

Requirements:

·        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

·        3+ years of hands-on experience in ML, data science, search, relevance, or ranking.

·        Strong Python programming experience.

·        Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, or MLflow.

·        Strong experience working with large datasets and data processing.

·        Experience with feature engineering and data preprocessing.

·        Strong software engineering and backend development experience.

·        Experience designing REST APIs and distributed systems.

·        Strong SQL and database experience.

·        Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.

·        Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, and automated testing.

 

Preferred Skills:

·        Production experience with LLMs, RAG, AI agents, and evaluation systems.

·        Experience with vector databases such as Qdrant.

·        Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or Airflow.

·        Experience with Kubernetes.

·        Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.

·        Experience with ML model deployment and inference pipelines.

·        Experience with AWS Bedrock or similar AI cloud services.

 

In compliance with the salary transparency law, the expected pay range for this role is $50 - 60/hr. Actual compensation depends on experience and interview evaluation.
