Job Title: Test Automation Lead / SDET

Location: Charlotte, NC – Hybrid – Need Local
Openings: 1 Lead + 4 SDET/Automation Engineers
Level: Mid-Level

Role Overview

We are looking for a Test Automation Lead / SDET to drive test automation initiatives and work closely with development and QA teams to build, execute, and maintain automated testing solutions. This is a combined requirement where the Lead will provide technical direction while also contributing hands-on to automation development and testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks and scripts.
• Develop and maintain automated tests using Java, Playwright, Selenium, and/or Cypress.
• Create reliable and reusable automated test scripts for functional and regression testing.
• Execute automated and manual test cases and analyze test results.
• Drive regression automation and improve overall test coverage.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing practices.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and report defects with clear technical details.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and define effective test strategies.
• Review automation code and provide technical guidance to SDET/Automation Engineers.
• Help establish automation standards, best practices, and reusable testing components.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in test automation/SDET development.
• Proficiency in Java and automated test script development.
• Experience with one or more of Playwright, Selenium, and Cypress.
• Strong understanding of functional, regression, and automated testing.
• Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to troubleshoot automation failures and test execution issues.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• For the Lead role, demonstrated ability to provide technical direction and mentor automation engineers.

Preferred

• Experience building or enhancing automation frameworks.
• Experience with API testing and automation.
• Knowledge of Git and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience working with cloud-based applications and microservices.

Team Structure

• Test Automation Lead – 1
• SDET / Automation Engineers – 4

The Lead and SDET team will work as one integrated automation team, with the Lead providing technical direction while remaining hands-on with automation development, execution, and continuous improvement.
